“Drag Race France”: The first episode won over viewers

TELEVISION – Wind of freshness on the public service. This Saturday, June 25, day of the pride march, the French adaptation of the most famous drag queens competition, RuPaul’s Drag Racearrived on our screens.

Broadcast at 8 p.m. on France.tv Slash, then at 11:25 p.m. on France 2, the show Drag Race France takes up the codes of the original American reality TV, strong of its 14 seasons: a funny, creative and committed entertainment program, concerned with defending the interests and the diversity of the art of French drag against a background of acceptance of self.

The aim of the game? This is a competition in which drag queens compete in events that combine singing, acting, dancing and modeling. At the end of each episode, one of them is eliminated. The winner leaves with a sum of money and (often) large commercial contracts.

This Saturday evening, the first episode began in particular with a parade in an exuberant pink workshop, decorated in the French style with small touches like Château de Versailles. The first test was a talent show, based on dance, singing, lyp sinc and even trumpet.

Still, many viewers loved the concept, as can be read below in the complimentary messages posted on Twitter in the evening. “Awesome”, “funny”, “fresh”, “pleasantly surprised”…
