the Amazon series reveals very scary new images with Orcs

The highly anticipated Prime Video series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Powerrecently unveiled new images that are a little scary.

The highly anticipated return to Middle-earth under the banner of Jeff Bezos is already shaping up to be one of the major audiovisual events of this year, which is announced as the most expensive television series in history. Enjoying so fara sibylline promotionthe famous series knew how to work to the body the expectations of aficionados of the work of JRR Tolkien, unveiling in droplets a series of first visuals for the less engaging.

Exploring some of the different races constituting the famous mythology adapted to the screen by Peter Jackson in the early 2000s, these few shots were however omission of a particular specieswhich should however occupy a place of size within the series driven by the scriptwriters and producers JD Payne and Patrick McKay.

Antagonists with cruelty as exacerbated as their hygiene was questionable, the Orcs portrayed by Peter Jackson probably fed the nightmares of the youngest spectators of the original trilogy. But in The Rings of Powerwhose story takes place during the Second Age, the latter are few in number, widely threatened, and according to these new images, always so ugly. But in a good way!

In war as in war

A design far from the digital ignominies from which suffered The Hobbit – poor trilogy which will have traumatized many spectators during its theatrical release between 2012 and 2014 (in any case, according to the author of these lines) -, and rather reminiscent of the previous parts, the plastic aspect-end of string in less. Asked by IGN, Jamie Wilson, director of the prosthetist department, spoke with unrestrained enthusiasm and surprising affection for these creatures. But should we really expect otherwise from someone? having participated in each of the live action adaptations of Tolkien’s universe?

“I love Orcs. The very first page of the bible JD and Patrick, [les producteurs exécutifs, ndlr] was dedicated to the Orcs. These guys have a real passion for them, and they love that the prostheses are simultaneously design and functional.

There was really a need to explore these creatures since the story takes place in the Second Age, several millennia before the Third Age [qui faisait l’objet des films de Peter Jackson, ndlr]. It was very important for them to develop a culture for them and to properly probe their universe.”

A meticulousness that can be seen from the outset by means of these visuals. Undoubtedly fleshed out and enjoying now, at least visually, of a more deployed cultural identity than their previous portrayals, the Orcs appear to be characters in their own right and no longer just vile savage creatures.

The survivalist side is clearly highlighted by these new artistic designs, while the rugged faces of the Orcs have benefited from a nice (we agree) sense of detail. As for knowing now whether the final product will live up to expectations, this will require wisely wait until September 2 to find out.
