Music Festival 2022: What to do in Toulouse?

No giant concert on the Place du Capitole for this 36th edition of the Fête de la Musique. But don’t worry, the music will be there in the streets of Toulouse! Many indoor and outdoor events, for all musical styles and in all moods, are announced everywhere in the Pink City. To guide your steps, we have concocted a small selection for you.

Hyl ignites La Roseraie

Hyl (alias Yoann) rocks his unfiltered rap. The young man from Toulouse has banned autotune to keep authenticity in his music, which he himself defines as “new wave” rap. Funk and electro sounds coat and cajole lyrics worthy of the best poets of the genre, to the delight of rap lovers. His first EP is announced for October. He (Hyl) will present some excerpts from it tomorrow during two concerts, first in front of the Roseraie metro station at 6 p.m. (please note, the concert does not take place at the Soupetard cultural center, which is organizing the event ). It will be followed by a second session at the Winger Bar at 9 p.m.

Infusion of rock at the Music Factory

Three evenings in one! In the concert hall, the jam session will begin with Coma Child. The female rock powertrio will take the spectators into its dark universe, populated by introspective lyrics and haunting riffs, supported by a very heavy rhythm. The four Toulousains of Hence The Mirror will continue with an alternative rock at the border of punk, with hints of electro and metal for an energetic music that smells good of Nirvana. Finally, the atypical covers of the Ball’s N Tittys will close the party, in a self-defined style of “mechanical punk blues rock that smells of dust and grease”.

Musical style: Rock, Punk, Alternative, Metal

Hours: 5 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.

Location: The Music Factory – Rue Louis-Bonin.

A poetic trio at the Republic Pavilion

Three longtime friends, three colorful characters and three unique voices, for a concert with an accent! The Hôtel du Département will host the Toulouse Contour trio, formed by the committed poet Magyd Cherfi, the whimsical Yvan Cujious and the romantic Art Mengo: three friends brought together by a passion for beautiful French songs who revisit the great artists of the South-West such as Francis Cabrel or Nino Ferrer with finesse and lightness. The concert will mark the first Toulouse date of their album “Le temps additional”, released last January. In the first part of the evening, the A Tempo music school will present a repertoire of classical music (piano, violin, cello, clarinet, guitar and vocals) performed by twelve musicians including two Ukrainian pianists.
